BaliPure grounds Air Force for maiden win

MANILA, Philippines – The BaliPure Water Defenders eked out their first win of the Premier Volleyball League season after beating the Air Force Lady Jet Spikers in five sets, 26-24, 16-25, 25-19, 17-25, 17-15, at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan on Wednesday.

Led by skipper Grace Bombita and Menchie Tubiera, the Water Defenders finally broke out of their slump.

The team was on a 12-game losing streak prior to Wednesday’s win.

The Lady Jet Spikers managed to force the deciding fifth set, with Dell Palomata leading the helm. But they ultimately could not overcome their opponents.

With the victory, the Water Defenders tote a 1-2 record. They did not win a single game last conference.

Meanwhile, Air Force continues to work toward the win column after losing its first three matches.
