Army repeats over Bank Perlas
MANILA, Philippines – The PacificTown Army Lady Troopers took care of business against BanKo Perlas in four sets, 25-23, 25-23, 17-25, 25-20, in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference on Wednesday.
In a rematch of last conference's Battle for Third, Army once again emerged victorious against the Perlas Spikers.
Young gun Jem Guiterrez and Honey Royse Tubino led the way for the veteran-laden Lady Troopers.
The Perlas Spikers had a chance to steal both the first and second set but the Lady Troopers were able to hold off their comebacks.
In the third set, BanKo came out strong, posting an 8-4 lead early. By the middle of the set, they had doubled up on the Lady Troopers, 16-8.
Despite a run from PacificTown to try and get back into the set, BanKo was able to force send the match to a fourth set.
Nicole Tiamzon and Kathy Bersola paced the Perlas Spikers in the loss.
Army begins their Open Conference campaign with a win for a 1-0 start while BanKo now sports an even 1-1 slate.
The Lady Troopers will hope to make it two in a row when they face newcomers Choco Mucho on Wednesday.
