Petron finds 'spark plug' in Sisi Rondina

MANILA, Philippines — Sisi Rondina exploded for 22 points in the Petron Blaze Spikers’ victory over the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers on Thursday.

Rondina’s effort, which towed the Blaze Spikers back into the game after trailing 0-2, didn’t go unnoticed by their mentor Shaq de los Santos.

“Proud ako sa batang yan. Tawag ko nga dyan ‘spark plug’ kasi yan yung talagang pagsinalpak mo yan sa team, bumubuhay talaga doon sa team namin,” de los Santos said after the game.

Rondina also had a big game in Petron’s drubbing of rookie squad Marinerang Pilipina, where she finished with 20 points. 

With two big games from the former UST volleybelle, de los Santos is looking forward to see her keep it up.

“Mas nakita namin yung improvement din niya ngayon, ang laki din ng naging improvement niya so hopefully magtuloy tuloy,” he said.

Asked about her performance, Rondina downplayed it, saying she was simply enjoying her time on the court.

“Gusto (lang) naming manalo talaga. Eh alam naman natin yung F2 talaga na, malakas na team. But sabi lang naman ni coach magenjoy kayo,” she said.

Rondina and the Blaze Spikers now sport a 12-1 record and face Foton in their final elimination round match in Cagayan de Oro on Saturday.
