More than a handful of people speculated if the Golden State Warriors had mishandled his injury by playing him in that game.
But Durant set the record straight.
"Hell, no. How can you blame [the Warriors]? Hell no," Durant told Yahoo Sports.
"Nobody never said a word to me during rehab as I was coming back... Right when the series started, I targeted Game Five," he said.
Durant's injury will prevent him from suiting up for his new squad the Brooklyn Nets for quite a while.
A layoff like this can get any athlete frustrated but for Durant, it was all part of the job.
"[Expletive] happens. Nobody was responsible for it. It was just the game. We just need to move on from that [expletive] because I'm going to be back playing," he said.
Durant spent three seasons with the Warriors after playing most of his career with the Oklahoma City Thunder. His move to the Warriors sent waves across the league, changing the landscape of the NBA.
He won two NBA titles with Golden State, being named Finals MVP in both instances.
