Tolentino elected new POC chief
MANILA, Philippines – Cycling chief and Cavite 7th district Rep. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino is the new Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President after beating Philip Ella 'Popoy' Juico, 24-20, in the special elections held Sunday.
The PhilCycling president garnered the majority of the votes among 45 eligible voters present.

However, only 44 cast their votes, with the Philippine Rugby Football Union opting to not vote.
The voting body consisted of 43 representatives from the various National Sports Associations in the country, two individuals from the athletes' commission (Hidilyn Diaz and Henry Dagmil) and an International Olympic Committee representative (Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski).

Juico's runningmate Steve Hontiveros, meanwhile, won the chairmanship post.
Jesus Clint Aranas of World Archery Philippines and Cynthia Carrion of the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines were also elected POC Board members.

The special elections came after a flurry of leadership issues plagued the POC.
