Ardina makes cut with 67
MANILA, Philippines — Dottie Ardina finally put together a pair of impressive rounds that netted her a joint 20th place, easing through the weekend play of the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic now paced by the red-hot Sung Hyun Park of Korea at Thornberry Creek course in Oneida, Wisconsin Friday (Saturday in Manila).
Three birdies in the first seven holes at the front and three more in the last seven negated her bogey on the par-4 11th, giving the Filipino shotmaker a 67 and a 36-hole total of nine-under 135, counting the 68 she fashioned out in morning play Thursday.
Though she fell farther back by eight strokes off Park, who sizzled with a bogey-free 62 marked by a pair of four-birdie binges for a 127, Ardina posted her strongest start following a series of missed cut stints after earning a full card on the world’s premier ladies circuit.
After closing out with three straight birdies at the front in the first round, Ardina birdied Nos. 1 and 3 then added another on the seventh then made up for her long mishap with three birdies in a four-hole stretch from No. 12.
