There’s no stopping Creamline

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Creamline slowed down trying to conserve its energy for the gruelling Final Four stretch but still got past PacificTown Army, 16-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-16, to boost its bid for the top seeding in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan yesterday.

Import Ale Blanco unleashed a 16-hit game, including 10 attack points, to power the Cool Smashers to their eighth straight victory after an opening day setback to the PetroGazz Angels and join their tormentor at the helm heading to the final elims playdate on Saturday.

The Lady Troopers, who absorbed a shutout loss from the Angels the last time out, remained at No. 3 despite back-to-back setbacks but their 4-5 card kept the fifth-running Motolite (3-6) in the semis race.

BanKo-Perlas was seeking to tie PacificTown at third against winless BaliPure at presstime.

“We were a bit relaxed in the first set but in the next, it was different, especially with regard to our service,” said Blanco, who spiked her outing with four blocks to earn the game’s top honors.

The defending champions, who got back and stopped the Angels’ hot run at seven with a four-set romp last Saturday, struggled coming off that win.
