Ateneo seniors dominate in series-tying win vs UST
Ateneo seniors not yet done, dominate in series-tying Game 2
MANILA, Philippines — The Ateneo Lady Eagles simply didn't want their season to end just yet in Game Two of the UAAP women's volleyball finals Wednesday.
And nobody wanted to force a deciding Game Three more than graduating Katipunan-based volleybelles Maddie Madayag, Bea de Leon and Kat Tolentino.
With their UAAP careers on the line, the trio simply dominated the match.
Combining for a total of 41 points in their four-set victory over the Tigresses, the Lady Eagles plan to end their season kicking.
"Well of course, pumasok talaga sa isip namin na it might be our last," Madayag said after surviving a win or go home situation in game two.
"But then, kino-cross out namin yun... lalaban talaga kami," she said.
Madayag was as reliable as ever as the league's 2nd Best Middle Blocker finished with a team-high 17 points to lead her team to victory.
"We're not going to go down without a fight," Madayag said.
Madayag and the Lady Eagles will slug it out with UST on Saturday for a winner-take-all rubber match for UAAP glory.
