Falcons face full-bodied Blazers in Filoil tilt

MANILA, Philippines – Adamson tries to bounce back from a heartbreaking defeat to Lyceum of the Philippines University as it clashes with College of St. Benilde today in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup 2019 at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan City.

The Falcons fell short of their comeback bid, dropping an 81-82 decision to the Pirates last Friday following their 89-65 romp over the Emilio Aguinaldo Generals last week.

The Blazers, for their part, are likewise aiming to bounce back from their 57-70 defeat to the Pirates last May 6 in a game where several of their players sat out because of a game in the D-League.

Justin Gutang, Yankie Haruna, Clement Leutcheu and Unique Naboa, however, are set to return for CSB for their 3:15 p.m. duel with the Adamson Falcons.

The San Marcelino-based squad, however, would need another strong effort from 6-5 rookie Aaron Fermin, who was held to just four points in its loss to LPU after erupting for 21 points, highlighted by four triples in their win over EAC.

“This pre-season tournament is a good test run for our rookies and new players. Winning and losing here I’m sure will make them stronger,” said Adamson coach Franz Pumaren.

Also seeing action in Group B are Far Eastern University and National University at 1:30 p.m.

Both the Tams and Bulldogs are also coming off losses to the Letran Knights, 70-75 Friday, and 69-76, respectively, last Sunday.

In Group A, La Salle, which took an 85-92 overtime setback to University of the Philippines, also last Sunday to slip to a 1-1 (win-loss) record, plays Mapua, which dropped its first two outings including a 63-80 defeat to San Beda Friday, at 5 p.m.
