MANILA, Philippines — Angelo Que salvaged an even par 71 and barely made the cut but Miguel Tabuena missed the weekend play by one with a 77 yesterday in the Asia Pacific Diamond Cup Golf 2019 now paced by Korean-American Micah Shin at the Sobu Country Club in Chiba, Japan.

The Davao-based Shin, last year’s winner of The Country Club Invitational who honed his talent and skills on the Philippine Golf Tour and PGT Asia, sizzled with a bogey-free 67 and took control at 138, two strokes ahead of first-round leader Danthai Boonma of Thailand and three others halfway through the rich tournament co-sanctioned by the Japan PGA Tour and Asian Tour.

But the Pinoy bets floundered with Que, winner of the Tokai Cup of the Japan PGA last year, just making it to the top 60 with a 146 after a three-birdie, three-bogey effort.

It was a disappointing second round for Tabuena, who had looked forward to contending in the $13.6-million event with a 70 Thursday to stay just three strokes off the hot-starting Boonma. But the two-time Philippine Open titlist failed to recover from a couple of double bogeys on Nos. 8 and 10 and missed the cut by one with a 147 after a 37-40 round.

Former Asian Tour No. 1 Juvic Pagunsan also failed to advance with a 148 after a 75.
