UST ousts DLSU, barges into UAAP women's volleyball finals
MANILA, Philippines – The UST Golden Tigresses continued their emphatic season, entering the finals of UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball after besting La Salle in five sets, 25-19, 25-19, 20-25, 23-25, 15-10, at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday.
UST thus snapped the Lady Spiker 10-year streak of finals appearances and booked their first finals berth since Season 73.
MVP favorite Sisi Rondina once again led the way for UST while key contributions from KC Galdones and Eya Laure also had the DLSU defense guessing.
The España-based squad sent DLSU crashing to its worst finish in a decade.
UST survived a fierce comeback from the DLSU side, and big games from skipper Desiree Cheng, Julia Ipac and May Luna helped the Lady Spikers push UST to the brink.
Cheng finished her career with the Lady Spikers at third place.
Lourdes Clemente also ends her UAAP journey after a one-and-done deal with La Salle.
Rondina and the Tigresses await the winner of the Ateneo-FEU semis matchup on Wednesday.
