Tigers roar, notch 5th win
MANILA, Philippines — Ironcon-University of Santo Tomas walloped McDavid, 111-90, to string up its fifth win and stay at second in its bracket in the PBA D-League at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao yesterday.
Soulemane Chabi Yo starred for the Tigers in the first half and went on to collect 25 points, 15 rebounds and five assists.
Ironcon-UST built a 59-41 lead at the break and controlled the match throughout as it dominated the boards, 58-37, and drilled in 16 treys to improve to a 5-1 mark and stay right behind pacesetting Cignal-Ateneo in the Aspirants’ Group.
“We’re still lacking. We know it will take some time for the players to adapt but right now what we’re thinking is how to establish our system,” said Tigers coach Aldin Ayo.
Marvin Lee went on a five-for-seven clip from three-point range and finished with 17 points for Ironcon-UST while Rhenz Abando and Brent Paraiso put in 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Rev Diputado and Jason Melano each scored 18 for McDavid which fell out of contention at 1-6.
