Kaya vows to keep lead in AFC Cup
MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Cup titlist Kaya FC-Iloilo aims to stay in pole position in the AFC Cup as it plays second-running PSM Makassar tonight at the Indonesian club’s turf at Pakansari Stadium in Bogor City.
Riding high on their 5-0 blanking of reigning Asean zone titlist Home United of Singapore in their last assignment in Group H over at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod, the Iloilo booters seek to keep on rolling in the top-of-the-table match set at 7 p.m. (8 p.m. Manila time).
“We all know the importance of tomorrow’s game – it will determine who will be top of the group after the first round of matches,” said Kaya coach Noel Marcaida during yesterday’s pre-match press conference.
“PSM is one of the oldest clubs in Indonesia. Looking at their AFC roster, (I think) they have an obvious height advantage. They have very technical, skillful, and experienced players so we’re expecting a tough game,” he added.
