Ateneo sweeps UP as Molde goes down with injury

MANILA, Philippines – The Ateneo Lady Eagles reasserted their mastery over Katipunan neighbor UP in straight sets, 25-23, 25-16, 25-23, in the 81st UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay on Saturday.

It was a neck-and-neck affair at the start of the match, but the Lady Maroons crumbled after losing key player Isa Molde early in the second set.

Despite a stronger fight from the UP side in the third set, the Lady Eagles, at full power, proved too much for the Diliman-based squad.

Ateneo booked their eighth straight against only one loss to rule the standings while UP fell to a 5-4 slate.
