La Salle DCS rocks it to ’em in street dance; UST wins jrs tilt
MANILA, Philippines — De La Salle University’s Dance Company Street rocked the UAAP Season 81 Streetdance Competition with a Queen-themed winning performance to wrest back the crown that it lost last year.
The Taft-based crew dished out a rock-centered number to the tune of Queen’s hits like “We Will Rock You” and “Another One Bites the Dust” that impressed the judges the most, earning a competition-best 86.50 points.
The La Sallians beat 2018 tormentor Far Eastern U’s Street Alliance (85.00) and National University’s Underdawgz (83.25) for the diadem.
Finishing outside the podium were UP Streetdance (82), Santo Tomas (79), University of the East (72.42), the Company of Ateneo Dancers (70.75) and Adamson (67.45)
Back on top after yielding the crown to FEU in Season 80, DLSU’s streetdance group now owns four titles overall.
In juniors’ play, UST Galvanize retained the diadem after garnering 80.10 points.
The Thomasians went back-to-back at the expense of UE (74.50), FEU (74.45), NU (72.13), La Salle-Zobel (67.40), UP (64.15) and Adamson (60.90).
