Eagles fly high again, leave Titans in tatters

Kristina Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Cignal-Ateneo brushed off Joshua Munzon’s second 40-point game for AMA Online Education, hacking out a 111-81 win to bounce back in the PBA D-League yesterday.

Munzon, the top draft pick, fired 41 points, two games after dropping 46 in another Titans’ loss against University of Santo Tomas, but it caused little trouble for the Blue Eagles who drew double-digit numbers from five players to improve to 3-1 and stay at third in the Aspirants’ Group.

Ange Kouame, back from a one-game absence, led the Cignal-Ateneo assault with 22 points and 15 rebounds, Bryan Andrade scored 21, Thirdy Ravena had 14 points and eight assists, William Navarro came up with 14 points and nine rebounds while Mike Nieto added 10 points and 12 boards.

In the second game, Wangs Basketball also atoned for a loss the last time out in the Foundation Group, putting away Marinerong Pilipino, 88-78.

The Couriers put the Skippers in a scoreless spell in the first four minutes of the fourth to stretch a one-point battle.

Cha Dao-Far Eastern U checked a two-game slide as it dispatched The Masterpiece Clothing-Trinity University of Asia, 106-81, for joint fifth with Marinerong Pilipino in the Foundation Group.
