Brave Combat makes Philippine debut at MOA Arena

Joey Villar - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Brave Combat will hold its first fight card in the Philippines via Brave 22 Storm of Warriors, which will headline reigning bantamweight champion Stephen Loman and challenger Elias Boudegzdame at the MOA Arena tonight.

In Wednesday night’s open workouts, fans cheered Loman and Filipino fighters Jeremy Pacatiw and Marc Alcoba, who will face off in one of the undercards and Rolando Dy, son of former boxing champion Rolando Navarette.

Among the foreign fighters seeing action are Ireland’s Cian Cowley, New Zealand’s John Brewin and Pakistan’s Mehmosh Raza

Dy, who will tackle Raza, vowed to give it all and make a big impression.

“I’ll be honest, I was always an average student, I got my college degree because I had to. I was an average basketball player and an awful dancer. Fighting is what I really know, it’s what I love. Being able to be here and representing my country, back to Brave, it’s amazing,” said Dy.

Brave Combat is a fight outfit from Bahrain with nothing less than His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa as its biggest endorser.

Representing Bahrain in an official visit to President Duterte, Al Khalifa discussed his plans for the sport in the short, medium and long term.

The Chief Executive was quick to congratulate Al Khalifa on his efforts in the sport and the transforming power MMA has in the lives of citizens around the world.

The origins of Brave 22 can be traced back to Alfonso Ver, the Philippines’ Ambassador to Bahrain who was so impressed with the outfit that he encouraged them to hold a card in the Philippines.

Now it’s here.
