Lindsay Stalzer fires up Cargo Movers in SuperLiga debut

Olmin Leyba - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Debuting Lindsay Stalzer announced she had arrived as she provided the firepower that moved F2 Logistics to a hard-earned 23-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-22 victory over United VC and a share of the lead in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix yesterday at Filoil Flying V Center.

Stalzer, who missed F2’s first two outings to fufill a commitment in the Indonesian league, punched in 25 attacks and five blocks as her new team picked up its third straight win in the import-flavored conference for joint pole position with idle Petron.

“I have little amount of time to mesh and jell with my teammates but already I felt super supported and I feel the great energy from this team,” said the fancied American, who arrived last weekend and had a couple of training sessions with F2.

“I played with Kim (Fajardo) and Abie (Maraño) a little bit before in the World Championship a couple of years ago so I feel really good with them and I think we’re going to do big things this year,” added Stalzer, who won the MVP plum and the GP title while playing for F2’s rival Petron last year.

Becky Perry, who ably manned the ramparts while Stalzer was unavailable, added 16, making the most damage in the fourth.

Meanwhile, PLDT Home Fibr cruised to its second consecutive win after sweeping Foton, 25-16, 25-20, 25-17, in the second game.

Grace Lazard spearheahed the assault with 12 attacks, five blocks and an ace as Kendra Dahlke chipped in 10 markers as the Power Hitters improved to 1-2 while sending the Tornadoes to back to back losses for 1-2.

Courtney Felinski scored 15 in a losing effort.
