MANILA, Philippines — As part of its buildup for the 2019 SEA Games the country is hosting in December, the Philippine Underwater Hockey sent players to the recent Australian Underwater Hockey National Championship in Cairns.

Underwater Hockey will be a first time event in the SEAG with expected participation of teams from Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

To ensure that the country’s teams will do well, players have been training continuously with the help of coaches provided by the Philippine Sports Commission.

Filipino player Christopher Policarpo played on the New South Wales Men’s Masters team, which bagged a second gold medal at the Aussie Nationals.
