UAAP Board approves changes in volleyball awards format

MANILA, Philippines — The UAAP board has given a green light to use the FIVB individual awards format this Season 81.

As per reports from ABS-CBN Sports and SPIN, UAAP board member Rod Roque confirmed the decision through text message on Thursday.

In contrast to the league's previous format where individual awards were given based on skills (i.e. best scorer, best blocker, best digger etc.), the FIVB format would mean that awards will be given per position (i.e. 1st and 2nd outside hitters, 1st and 2nd Middle blockers etc.).

The UAAP now shares the same individual awards format with other local leagues like the Pilipinas Super Liga, Premier Volleyball League and the UAAP Jrs division.

UAAP Season 81 Volleyball will begin on Feb. 16, 2019.
