Rich Guinitaran shines in CEU’s NCRAA win

MANILA, Philippines — Rich Guinitaran exploded for 31 points, including six points in overtime, as Centro Escolar outfought Pasig Catholic College, 81-80, in a tight, slam bang battle in the NCRAA basketball tournament at the Saint Joseph Gymnasium.

Guinitaran’s final basket shoved the Scorpions to an 81-78 lead, and the Derrick Pumaren-mentored team held on to notch a third straight win.

Joshua Abastillas added 19 points and nine rebounds.

In the other games, De Ocampo Memorial College and University of Luzon beat separate foes.

The Golden Tigers topped the PSBA Jaguars, 92-82, also for a third win in a row in Group B.

Meanwhile, Jhonard Clarito, a member of the San Juan Knights in the MPBL, also exploded for 31 markers as De Ocampo Memorial College brought down Immaculada Concepcion College, 92-84.

Harold Lescano, Angelo Ramos and Mark Atabay provided key help as the Cobras improved their card to 2-2.
