St. Benilde makes volleyball semis

MANILA, Philippines — St. Benilde overpowered San Sebastian, 25-17, 25-16, 25-14, yesterday to reach the Final Four in the  NCAA women’s volleyball tournament.

Rachel Anne Austero led her team with 13 points while Klarissa Abriam scattered 11 hits as the Lady Blazers joined the Arellano U Lady Chiefs (8-0) and the San Beda Lady Red Spikers (7-1) into the next round with a seventh win in eight outings.

The Lady Stags, in contrast, tumbled to their fourth defeat in as many wins and outside the magic four as they joined the Jose Rizal Lady Bombers at fifth spot. Perpetual kept solo No. 4 with a 4-3 slate.
