Philppine Superliga bares 2019 national, international schedule

Olmin Leyba - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Philppine Superliga looks forward to offering exciting volleyball action in 2019 as it sets a series of activities and tournaments all-year round while continuing its support to the national team in four international competitions.

The league starts its new season with the traditional Fans’ Day and out-of-town sorties highlighted by exhibition matches and volleyball Jan. 19-30.

It then fires off hostilities with the import-flavored Grand Prix on Feb. 9, followed by the Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup (May 23-26), the All Filipino Conference (June 15-Aug. 24), the Invitational Conference (Oct. 5-Nov. 16) and another beach volleyball event in December.

True to its commitment to the national cause, the PSL will give way to Phl VI’s participation in the Asian Women’s Club Championship in China (April 20-28), the Asian Women’s U-23 Volleyball Championship in Vietnam (July 13-21), the Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship (Aug. 31-Sept. 8) and the Southeast Asian Games hosted by the country (Nov. 30-Dec. 10).

“This calendar of events reflects our commitment of coming up with high-level women’s volleyball action,” said PSL chairman Philip Ella Juico.

He also stressed that the support of the league’s broadcast partner, ESPN5, and the national federation, the Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc., remains solid as ever.
