MANILA, Philippines – Petro Gazz has added Jeanette Panaga from Pocari Sweat and will acquire former Bali Pure import Janisa Johnson to add more firepower as it eyes a better performance in next year’s Reinforced Conference of the Premier Volleyball League.

Panaga, who was also part of the St. Benilde team that won the NCAA title a few years back, will provide an additional attacking threat in the middle and should also contribute in other ways like blocking being a former league Best Blocker.

“We have high expectations from her (Panaga) because we know she will address our needs in the middle,” said Petro Gazz coach Jerry Yee.

Petro Gazz manager Camille Cruz also bared that they have agreed in principle with Johnson, who played for Bali Pure last season, to suit up for the Angels as one of their two allowed reinforcements.

“It’s just a formality but basically she had already agreed to play for Petro Gazz,” Cruz, who played for La Salle three seasons ago but decided not to play anymore after tearing her ACL for the third time in her last UAAP year, told The STAR.

Cruz said they have yet to finalize on the second import but they are currently talking to Tess Rountree, who suited up for Pay Maya also last year.

“Hopefully, we’ll get her (Rountree) because we would really need someone to help us on our third ball,” said Cruz.
