Anderson shines in MPBL General Santos
GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines — Gerald Anderson returned to General Santos City amidst the warm welcome from the local folks here as the celebrity baller played solid in helping the Marikina Shoemasters to a 76-62 win over the Mandaluyong El Tigre in the MPBL Datu Cup at the Lagao Gymnasium here.
Anderson, who hails from Doña Soledad, played in the Tuna Capital of the Philippines for the first time and came up with a solid effort, scoring nine points, pulling down six rebounds and hitting a three-point shot right before the end of the match, a fitting way to close the Shoemasters’ first back-to-back victories in the fastest growing regional amateur basketball league put up by Sen.Manny Pacquiao with PBA legend Kenneth Duremdes serving as commissioner.
With the win, the Shoemasters improved their win-loss record to 6-10, climbing into a tie for 10th to 11th spots in the southern division with Zamboanga.
Marikina was led by JR Ng Sang, who went a rebound short of a double-double performance.
