Adamson president lauds community for 'fervent support' for Falcons
MANILA, Philippines — Adamson President Marcelo Manimtim has extended his gratitude to the university community after their team, the Soaring Falcons, failed to reach the UAAP Season 81 finals.
“Good evening to the whole Adamson community: alumni, administrators, faculty members, co-academic staff and employees, students and friends. We fail to reach the finals this 81st UAAP Men’s basketball. Yet we are so grateful for the solid and tremendous support that we get from all of you,” Manimtim said in a message on Wednesday evening.
“Your fervent support is what will not be forgotten,” he added.
Manimtim said this is also what he told the players who were crying at the dugout after their heartbreaking semis loss to the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons.
UP has twice beaten Adamson in the series.
The Maroons first defeated Falcons last November 24, 73-71, to force the decider.
The two teams faced off anew on Wednesday in a do-or-die game that filled the Smart Araneta Coliseum with thousands of fans.
UP escaped Adamson with an emphatic 89-87 win in overtime.
The Maroons will thus end a 32-year finals absence, taking on the Ateneo Blue Eagles in Game One of the UAAP Finals on Wednesday.
