Generika-Ayala makes it back-to-back; Smart, F2 Logistics prevail

MANILA, Philippines — Carrying the momentum from its massive upset in the previous outing, rejuvenated Generika-Ayala stamped its class on Sta. Lucia, 25-7, 25-11, 25-21, to rack up back-to-back wins in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference yesterday at the Filoil Flying V Center.

More confident now after stunning fancied F2 Logistics, 19-25, 25-22, 25-16, 28-26 last Tuesday, the Lifesavers put up a dominating performance against the struggling Lady Realtors, totally outplaying them in attacks, 42-14, blocks, 8-2, and aces, 5-3, en route to  improving to 2-3.

“That win over F2 was a big confidence boost because we were down 0-3 and we got our first win, against F2 pa,” said skipper Angeli Araneta, who turned in seven kills and four aces to backstop Patty Orendain’s game-high 16 markers and 12 digs.With five points, Jho Maraguinot was the top scorer for Sta. Earlier, Smart snapped a two-game slide with a hard-earned 25-16, 18-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-11 win over Cocolife.

Grethcel Soltones returned to action with 17  points, 16 digs and 25 receptions as the Giga Hitters got back on track after losses to Petron and Foton for an even 2-2.

F2 Logistics regained its winning ways with an emphatic 25-15, 25-13, 25-13 bounceback sweep of erstwhile undefeated Foton in the nightcap. The Cargo Movers improved to 4-2, half a game behind the Tornadoes’ 4-1.
