Que, Juvic finish way behind in Taiheiyo Masters
MANILA, Philippines — Angelo Que birdied three of the last eight holes at the front to salvage an even par 70 but still wound up way below at joint 40th in the rain-shortened VISA Taiheiyo Masters won by Tatsunori Nukaga in Shizuoka, Japan yesterday.
The long-hitting Filipino shotmaker struggled at resumption of the third round action, bogeying three of the first eight holes at the back. But after birdying the 18th and dropping a stroke on the first hole, he struck back with back-to-back birdies from No. 2 then birded the par-3 seventh for a 33-37 card.
He finished with a 213, 12 strokes behind Nukaga, who rallied with a 66 to snatch the crown at 201, two shots ahead of Seung-Hyuk Kim, who pooled a 203 after a 65.
Juvic Pagunsan, who shot a one-under 69 in the first round, failed to recover from a second round 73, ending up with three bogeys and a double bogey against two birdies for a second three-over card.
