F2 Logistics, Foton blitz foes, share lead

MANILA, Philippines —  F2 Logistics sustained its hot start and picked up another straight-set romp, this time at the expense of Cocolife, 25-13, 25-16, 25-8, to go 3-0 in the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference yesterday at the Filoil Flying V Center.

The Cargo Movers were in the groove on both offense and defense, punching in 43 attacks while holding the Asset Managers to only 13 en route to the runaway victory that geared them up for their much-awaited showdown with rival Petron tomorrow in Biñan.

Foton also racked up its third straight win for a share of the lead, pulling it off in four sets over Sta. Lucia, 25-14, 25-21, 19-25, 25-13.

The Cargo Movers got off to blazing starts in each frame, seizing an 11-3 lead in the first, an 11-8 upperhand in the second and a 19-5 margin in the third, to set the tone for the sweep.

“Sabi ko naman before kailangan ko lang na makarecover yung mga bata,” said F2 coach Ramil de Jesus, who was satisfied with his wards’ pace compared to their previous outing against Sta. Lucia Tuesday night.   “Maganda talaga ang epekto ng pahinga sa kanila and nakakuha sila ng magandang connection sa loob.”

Aby Marano accounted for 10 kills, three blocks and three aces while Kim Kianna Dy and Majoy Baron posted 12 and 10, respectively, and Cha Cruz had 12 digs in addition to her nine markers to lift F2.

The Cargo Movers put the cuffs on the Asset Managers’ Fil-Am ace Kalei Mau, who finished with five points to lead Cocolife (0-3).

“70 percent ng depensa sa kanya nakafocus; siya yung No. 1 threat, maganda maglaro, matalino, madepensa, powerful mag-spike. Pero pinag-aralan din namin ang ibang players nila at binantayan,” said Marano of Mau, who has 13 and 20 in her first two outings.

Meanwhile, the Tornadoes continued to show they can get the job done without twin towers Jaja Santiago and Dindin Manabat, who are now playing in Japan.

Mina Aganon and Arianne Layug took the cudgels with 19 and 17, respectively, as Foton stayed perfect and handed the Lady Realtors their third consecutive loss.
