Visayas Arnis Open under way in Capiz
MANILA, Philippines — Arnis masters from the Visayas region compete in the Visayas Arnis Open today and tomorrow at the Capiz Villareal Stadium in Roxas City.
Winners get a ticket to the national finals in December at the SM Mall of Asia.
“We will select the national athletes for the 2019 SEA Games this coming December,” said Arnis Philippines Inc. (ARPI) president Raymond Velayo.
ARPI, affiliated with the Philippine Olympic Committee, is tasked to select the national team for 2019 SEA Games, aiming to win majority of the 24 gold medals.
Velayo will grace today’s occasion with Capiz Gov. Antonio del Rosario, tournament manager Carlito Ondillo and assistant tournament manager Regulus Navarro Jr. of Iloilo.
Earlier, ARPI staged arnis qualifying tournaments in Baguio, Bacolod and Makati.
