Navy tops Akari; Ateneo-Motolite stops Air Force

Kristina Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Iriga-Navy scored a repeat over Adamson-Akari, 25-18, 26-24, 25-23, to get back on track in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Open Conference at the Imus Sports Complex in Cavite yesterday.

The Lady Oragons picked up their second win overall against the lone team they defeated in the first round.

Iriga-Navy improved to 2-7 but stayed at seventh.

Adamson-Akari, meanwhile, opened its second round campaign with a loss, remaining winless in eight tries.

Erratic plays by the Lady Falcons cost them the first and second sets. They came back in the third to pull level twice at 19 and 21 and even take a 23-22 lead, but the Lady Oragons sealed it behind Joanne Bunag, May Madulid and Nene Bautista.

In the other game, Ateneo-Motolite swept past Pocari Sweat-Air Force, 27-25, 25-21, 25-21 to rejoin BanKo-Perlas at second on identical 6-2 records.
