Playoffs-bound teams size up each other in non-bearing games
MANILA, Philippines — San Beda and Perpetual Help face off today in a sneak preview of their Final Four showdown in the 94th NCAA basketball tournament.
The Lions and the Altas will use the clash at 2 p.m. to size up each other for their coming playoff duel.
“We’ll play the way we do and maybe tinker with some combinations,” said San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez.
“We’ll just try to keep it close and give us a chance to steal the win. That’s also our game plan in our first game and hopefully, we could pull it off this time,” said Perpetual Help coach Frankie Lim, a four-time champion coach with San Beda.
San Beda and Perpetual clash in the semis Friday with the Lions enjoying a twice-to-beat advantage. A deciding game, if necessary, will be on Monday.
Meanwhile, Letran, which plays Lyceum of the Philippines U in the other Final Four matchup, warms up for the playoffs versus St. Benilde in their 4 p.m. tiff.
