CEU blasts St Joseph, grabs top spot in UCBL

MANILA, Philippines — Centro Escolar University reasserted its mastery over St. Joseph College of Bulacan, 113-77, and seized the top spot in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League (UCBL) Season 3 yesterday at the Olivarez College in Parañaque.

Maodo Diouf shone for the Scorpions with a double-double effort of 17 points and 12 rebounds to go with three blocks and three assists.

Earlier, Jayson Jimenez scattered 13 of his 21 points in the third period as Technological Institute of the Philippines routed Philippine Christian University-Dasmariñas, 78-51, for its fourth win in seven matches.

CEU improved to 6-1, leaving Diliman College and Olivarez College at second with similar 5-1 cards.
