Elite runners top PTT Run for Clean Energy II

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A pair of elite runners from the Far Eastern University stamped their class in the PTT Run for Clean Energy Year 2 last Saturday at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Grounds.

Evelou Abutas and Joneza Mie Sustituedo ruled the 10K division of the advocacy run aimed at promoting the call for clean energy in our streets, work and homes.

The 21-year-old Abutas, a silver medalist in the 3K steeplechase and bronze winner of the 5,000 meters in the University Athletic Association, quashed the challenge of running circuit veterans Jujet de Asis (33:40) and Carlito Fantiliaga (33:44) with his winning time of 33:34.

On the other hand, the 19-year-old Sustituedo, who burst into the athletic scene six years ago as a barefoot runner in the Palarong Pambansa and has won numerous running tournaments since then, won the distaff side with a time of 35:30, beating Mitch Manila (35:40) and Matet Borin (35:46).

The 10K winners received cash prizes, medals, PTT jackets and gift packs from the sponsors.

“We are elated no end that you have joined us in this advocacy promoting clean energy,” PTT marketing director Thitiroj Rergsumran told the energetic crowd that was entertained no end by the mini-concert put up by Yela, Dottie’s World and the Cahlio Band of Probinsiyano actor Lester Llansang, courtesy of the Wish 107.5 Bus that was situated near the stage.

The second year of the PTT Run, which drew a total of 3,120 registered runners, was backed by PTT Lubricants, Cafe Amazon, Wish 107.5, Chris Sports, Milcu, Leslie’s Corp., ChloRelief, Lubie, Coca-Cola, La Filipina, Emilio Aguinaldo College, Maynilad, Herbalife, Vegemore, Science in Sport, Medicard Foundation, Ripples Daily, Gold Seas, Maynilad, Business Mirror and Business Mirror Health and Fitness Magazine, Village Connect, Philippine School of Business Administration, Mariano Marcos High School Batch ‘91, PH Dragon Boat Paddlers and St. Dominic College.
