Floyd still the favorite; Arum says he’s out of it

MANILA, Philippines — Floyd Mayweather Jr. teased the boxing world the other day by saying he would come out of retirement to do a rematch with Manny Pacquiao in December.

Whether or not it happens that soon (December being around the corner), oddsmakers have opened the betting lines for the anticipated rematch.

BetDSI, a world leader in online gaming, was among the first to open the lines for the projected rematch of the 2015 blockbuster.

Mayweather, unbeaten at 50-0, remains the favorite.

BetDSI, which offers odds and betting options in any sporting event or even the Presidential race, has placed the 41-year-old American at -265.

This means your $265 on Mayweather only wins $100.

Pacquiao, who turns 40 on Dec. 17, and with a ring record of 60-7-2, stood at +215, meaning every $100 on him wins $215.

BetDSI has come up with options on whether the rematch will happen before Dec. 31, 2018, with “Yes” being at -150 and “No” at +120.

Meanwhile, Top Rank chief Bob Arum, who promoted Pacquiao for nearly 12 years, said he will have nothing to do with the rematch – if and when it happens.

“Listen to me. I will not be involved in that fight, period, at all. Let other people do it. God love them. Let them make money. It’s not for me,” Arum told CBSSports.com.

In the 2015 meeting that broke boxing records in live attendance, pay-per-view sales and total revenue, Mayweather opened up at -260 to -285 then settled down to -225 days before the fight, which he won via unanimous decision.

Pacquiao was a +175 underdog then, the public not knowing that he had seriously injured his right shoulder in training.

Last Saturday, the two superstars bumped into each other during a rave party in Tokyo, and the rematch was born.
