UAAP postpones basketball, chess games
MANILA, Philippines — The UAAP has postponed its basketball and chess games scheduled for today due to Typhoon Ompong.
In a statement, UAAP Season 81 president Nilo Ocampo said the league “deems it best to cancel the basketball games” after “due consultation and considering what appears to be severe weather disturbance.”
He did not say yet the new dates for the affected basketball games.
Giant-killer Adamson (1-0) was supposed to gun for a follow-up to its upset of Ateneo in the 4 p.m. main game against La Salle (0-1) while defending champion Blue Eagles (1-1) were originally targetting their second consecutive victory at 2 p.m. against Far Eastern (1-1).
Also to be reset were the women’s hoops hostilities featuring Santo Tomas against La Salle and holder NU versus Adamson.
Meanwhile, the chess tournament’s kickoff originally slated today and tomorrow has been moved to Sept. 19 instead, sub-host UST said in a separate announcement.
