Lady Falcons rally past Red Spikers
MANILA, Philippines — Barely rested Adamson University fought back from 1-2 sets down and subdued San Beda, 25-16, 16-25, 22-25, 25-18, 15-8, to stretch its unbeaten run to six after back-to-back game days in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Collegiate Conference at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan Sunday.
The Lady Falcons, who stopped the Eya Laure-less UST Tigresses in four in a duel of unbeaten teams Saturday, returned to the court again, winning the first set but dropping the next two before coming alive in the last two frames to move closer to complete an elims sweep in the mid-season conference of the league organized by Sports Vision.
The semis-bound Lady Falcons churned out a 7-1 closing binge to pull away from a tight 8-7 game in the decider.
The win likewise dampened San Beda’s semis hopes as the Lady Red Spikers fell to 1-4 for joint fifth with St. Benilde and Perpetual Help, enabling UP to gain a big cushion at 3-3 in their battle for the last Final Four seat.
Eli Soyud paced the Lady Falcons with 17 points, Joy Dacoron had a block and an ace in their strong finish in the fifth and totaled 13 points while Bernadette Flora posted an all-around game of 12 points, 21 digs and 19 excellent receptions.
