Cargo Movers, Lady Realtors dispute third semis berth

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — F2 Logistics and Sta. Lucia Realty collide today in a knockout quarterfinal match for the third semifinal berth while four teams clash in classification phase of the Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga Invitational Conference at the Imus Center in Cavite.

The Cargo Movers and Lady Realtors face off at 7 p.m. with the winner advancing against unbeaten Cignal in the semifinals, another knockout stage of the tournament sponsored by Isuzu, UCPB Gen and Sogo Hotel with ESPN5, Hyper HD and Aksyon TV as broadcast partners.

Meanwhile, the bottom four teams begin their classification battle for seventh to 10th places.

Foton, which failed to live up to expectations and hobbled with a 1-3 card in Pool A, battles winless UE-Cherrylume at 2 p.m. while Cocolife squares off with UP-United Auctioneers Inc. (UP-UAI) in the other classifications encounter at 4:15 p.m.

The winners will next mix it up for seventh spot while the losers will be relegated to the battle for ninth on Thursday.

The sudden-death semifinals, meanwhile, will be played Saturday with Petron and Cignal clinching the two outright berths.

After blowing their chances for an outright semis seat following their loss to rival Petron, the Cargo Movers, to be led by Ara Galang, Michelle Morente and Aby Maraño, are tipped to dominate the Lady Realtors, who are expected to bank on the likes of MJ Phillips, Pam Lastimosa and setter Rebecca Rivera.

The mid-season conference is backed by Senoh, Asics, Mikasa, Mueller and Grand Sport as technical sponsors.
