Go for Gold crushes Perpetual

Kristina Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — J-jay Alejandro fired nine of his 23 points in the fourth quarter as Go for Gold toppled Perpetual Help, 81-69, to check a two-game skid in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao yesterday.

Alejandro teamed up with Yankee Haruna early in the fourth to shove the Scratchers to a double-digit lead before sealing the victory with a charity and a layup.

“You can’t be happy because we held the lead many times but we kept turning the ball over to give them chances,” said Go for Gold coach Charles Tiu, ruing his charges’ 30 turnovers which the Altas converted to 20 points.

Alejandro also had five boards and four assists, Clement Leutcheu came through with 14, Jerwin Gaco and Justin Gutang each had 11 while Haruna scored eight, six of which in the fourth for the Scratchers, who evened their card at 2-2.

Later in the day, Akari-Adamson hit three triples early in the fourth quarter as it fashioned out an 84-75 victory over Che’Lu Bar and Grill-San Sebastian for solo third at 3-1.

Jonathan Espeleta drilled in two treys while Egie Mojica had one in that stretch as the Falcons padded a shaky six-point lead to a 72-59 bulge en route to victory.
