Lady Spikers seek No. 3, share of lead

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Three-peat-seeking La Salle shoots for its third straight win and a share of the lead today when it takes on Far Eastern in the main game of UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tourney’s Valentine’s Day offering at the Filoil Flying V Arena.

The Lady Spikers aim to sustain their roll following hard-earned victories over UST and UP as they bid to join idle National U atop the standings against a Lady Tams crew (1-1) out for redemption after suffering a 23-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-21, 12-15 upset at the hands of Adamson.

DLSU coach Ramil de Jesus said they brace for another tough challenge in the 4 p.m. encounter.

“All the teams are very competitive so you have to really prepare well for everyone,” said De Jesus, whose charges were pushed to the limit by the Tigresses on opening day and had to save five match points in the third before closing out the Lady Maroons last Sunday.

La Salle has found a new heroine in sophomore Michelle Cobb, who embraced her role as replacement for Kim Fajardo with gusto. Cobb earned raves after tossing 32 excellent sets along with seven aces against UP, capping her heroics with three successive aces that sealed it.
