Rain or Shine ships Jericho Cruz to TNT

MANILA, Philippines – Rain or Shine on Tuesday has traded Jericho Cruz to TNT for rookie forward Sidney Onwubere with a first-round pick in the next season's draft, according to various reports.
The 27-year-old Cruz was Rain or Shine's ninth overall pick in the 2014 Draft. He snared the league's Mr. Quality Minutes and Most Improved Player citation two years later during the Elasto Painters' championship run in the Commissioner's Cup. He also made the All-Rookie team in 2015.
A foot injury hampered Cruz’s bid for a return to form this season as the guard’s averages took a significant hit. The former Adamson standout was only able to contribute an average of two points, 1.3 boards and 1.6 assists in the three games he played for Rain or Shine in the 2018 Philippine Cup.
Philstar.com sought head coach Nash Racela for comments regarding Cruz's inclusion to a backcourt that touts Jayson Castro and RR Garcia, but has yet to reply as of posting time.
TNT takes on GlobalPort on Wednesday night for their second-to-the-last assignment in the elimination phase. The team currently stands at 5-4 good for the 7th spot.
