Lakay fighters cruise to easy wins in ONE's 'Legends of the World'

MANILA, Philippines — Team Lakay made its presence felt early into ONE Championship’s Legends of the World card at the Mall of Asia Arena on Friday night.

Gina Iniong and Joshua Pacio snared respective victories — with relative ease — in the showpiece’s preliminaries.

Pacio, a former strawweight title contender, tagged fellow Filipino Roy Doliguez with a spinning back fist 38 seconds into the second round. The latter wasn’t able to recover from the strike, which roused the partisan crowd.

Iniong, who took on Indonesian Priscilla Lumban Gaol, also needed two rounds to dispatch her foe in an atomweight clash. The latter snared her foe in a crucifix position en route to a barrage of fists.

The win puts Iniong’s record in the promotion to 2-0. Pacio, who was coming from a loss before a hometown crowd last August, improved to 13-2-0.

In the earlier matches, China also scored twin victories. Peng Xue Wen breezed past Cambodia’s Phat Soda by way of suplex in the opening salvo, while Xie Chao scored a win via stoppage due to cuts at the expense of Malaysia’s Kelvin Ong.
