Palace lauds triathletes for reaping gold medals at SEAG
MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Monday praised the triathletes and other athletes who represented the country and earned medals at the South East Asian Games being held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
“The week starts with a good harvest of medals for the Philippines,” Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said in a statement.
As of Monday, Abella said the Philippines now have three gold medals, four silver medals and four bronze medals.
On Saturday, Mary Joy Tabal scored the country’s first gold in the women’s marathon while Nikko Bryan Huelgas and Marion Kim Mangrobang emerged victorious in the men and women’t triathlon events.
The Palace extended its warmest congratulations to the following athletes.

Nikko Bryan Huelgas and John Leerams Chicano for winning the Philippines a gold medal and a silver medal in the men’s triathlon event;

Marion Kim Mangrobang and Maria Claire Adorna for the gold and silver medals in the women’s triathlon event;

Kareel Hongitan, Nicole Marie Tagle and Maryqueen Ybanez for the bronze medal in the women’s team recurve archery;
-
and Mark Javier, Florante Matan, Gabriel Moreno and Rogelio Tremedal for the bronze medal in the men’s team recurve archery.
