Philippine table tennis team leaves SEAG door open for Lariba

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Table Tennis Federation president Ting Ledesma is open to include Olympian Ian Lariba in the Philippine delegation for the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games in August.
Ledesma said that Lariba could serve as an inspiration for the Philippine table tennis teams. The former La Salle standout was pulled out after being diagnosed with acute myeloid Leukemia.
"Kung kaya niyang pumunta, maganda yan," Ledesma said at the weekly Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum at the Golden Phoenix Hotel in Pasay Tuesday.
"Hanggang sa dulo ayoko pa nga siyang palitan sa lineup eh," he added.
Despite the exclusion of Lariba, Ledesma said that the team will perform better and do their best.
"Even though naman wala si Yan-Yan, makakapagperform pa rin kami ng maayos and we'll do all our can and all our best," he said.
