Triple Crown second leg up at Metro Turf tomorrow

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Racing Commission has lined up three major stakes races this weekend, including the keenly awaited second leg of the Triple Crown series tomorrow at Metro Turf Racecourse in Batangas.

Also to be held are the Hopeful Stakes and the three-year-old locally-bred stakes. All three stakes races are for 3YO colts and fillies and will be held tomorrow since Sunday, Independence Day is a non-racing day.

Radioactive, the SC Stockfarm colt who won the TC kickoff leg as a longshot last May 15 at Santa Ana Park, topbills the cast of elite runners in the 1,800-meter race.

He will be running against first leg rivals Underwood (second), Space Needle (third), and Subterranean River (fourth) as well as Dewey Boulevard, Guatemala, He He He, Indianpana, and Spectrum.

Philracom has allotted a total of P3 million for this race, with the winner to receive P1.8 million.

In the 1,800-meter Hopeful Stakes, the competitors are Homonhon Island, Mount Iglit, Pinagtipunan, Pinay Pharoah (who recently won a Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office maiden race), Secret Kingdom, Striking Colors, and Tagapagmana.

The race offers a total purse of P1 million with P600,000 going to the winner.

Four runners will compete in the 1,800-meter 3YO Locally-Bred Stakes – Garlimax, Pangarap, Play It Safe, and Real Flames.
