Parks plays best game as Legends sweep Stampede

MANILA, Philippines -- Fil-Am guard Bobby Ray Parks, Jr. made his presence felt in his first NBA D-League start with his best game yet helping the Texas Legends sweep the Idaho Stampede in back-to-back games on the road, 114-106, on Monday (Manila time) at the Century Link Arena in Idaho.

Parks repaid his Texas Legends coach Nick Van Exel's trust by coming up with an NBA D-League-high eight points on 3-of-4 shooting while adding five rebounds and one steal in 22 minutes. This came on the heels of his six-point, four-rebound performance off the bench in their 108-101 win yesterday.

The son of former seven-time PBA Best Import Bobby Parks hit seven in the first half including four in a 12-2 blast by the Legends that enabled them to cut a 13-point deficit into just three, 42-39, in the second quarter.

Parks made a split at the line in the third quarter that kept the Legends within one, 62-61, before wresting control with a 13-4 run.

Starting center Brandon Ashely paced the Legends with 25 points and 10 rebounds while four more players hit in double figures with their starting backcourt Tu Holloway and Toure' Murry combining for 35 points and 12 assists.

The Legends moved up to third spot in the Western Conference with their 14th win in 24 games trailing the Austin Spurs (16-8) and the Reno Big Horns (16-9).

Parks, Jr., the first homegrown Filipino talent to play in the NBA D-League, and the Legends hope to build on this back-to-back win as they continue their five-game road trip against the Bakersfield Jam (Wednesday Manila time), LA D-Fenders (Thursday Manila time) and Rio Grande Vipers (Sunday Manila time).
