McGregor KOs Aldo in just 13 secs at UFC194

MANILA, Philippines -- Conor McGregor made good on his promise as he took down Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds to become the undisputed UFC featherweight champion on Sunday (Manila time) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

In the weeks leading to the fight, McGregor repeatedly said he will make history and destroy Aldo.

He both did.

McGregor made history with the fastest knockout in a title fight, beating the 14-second mark set by Ronda Rousey.

Fueled by his longstanding grudge against Aldo, he took the fight to the defending champion right from the opening bell and it was over before the fans can warm up on their seats.

McGregor and Aldo collided with their own punches but it was the challenger's big straight left that was more telling knocking the lights out of the vanquished champion.  The Irish challenger quickly jumped on Aldo and wrapped up the quick victory with two hammer fists.

“Nobody can take that left-hand shot,” McGregor said.

“He’s powerful, and he’s fast. But precision beats power, and timing beats speed, and that’s what you saw there. I feel for Jose. He was a phenomenal champion. We deserved to go a little bit longer. But it would’ve happened sooner or later, added the new UFC featherweight champion in the post-match interview beamed via Satellite by Balls Channel.

The UFC 194 will have a replay on ABS-CBN Sports+Action at midnight.

Aldo, who did not know what hit him, immediately called for a rematch.

“I think I need a rematch since it really was not a fight. I think we need to get back in here,” said Aldo through his interpreter.

“(His trash talk) didn’t affect me at all. We’ll have to come back in here and it’s on to the next at this point.”

True enough, it was not McGregor's trash talk which took down Aldo. It was that jarring big straight left.

In the co-main event, Luke Rockhold dominated Chris Weidman to claim the UFC middleweight belt.

Weidman survived a near stoppage towards the end of the third round as his face was covered by blood heading into his corner.

Rockhold did not let up and dethroned Weidman in the fourth round via TKO stoppage.
