6 Benz cars at stake in Bill Shaw golf

MANILA, Philippines - Six premium Mercedes-Benz cars worth at least P15 million will be up for grabs as hole-in-one prizes in the 26th staging of the Bill Shaw Memorial, the member-guest tournament of the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club set March 4-7 at Wack Wack’s East and West courses.

There will be four Benz cars (a CLA 200 on the third hole, C200 on No. 8 and A200 on the 11th and B180 on the 14th) to be on offer for an ace on designated holes of the easier West course and another two (a GLK on the eighth and E200 on the 16th) at the dreaded East layout over four days in the event presented by Mercedes-Benz, Shell and Delta Airlines that has lured 576 players.

There are so many other premium items to be given away, including a Mazda 3, business class tickets for two to any US destination from Delta Airlines and to Narita, Japan from Philippine Airlines which are the top items in the awards ceremony raffle on March 7.

PAL, Mizuno, Jewelmer, The Glenlivet, Food Details Inc. are the platinum sponsors while gold sponsors are Pacific Links, Unilever Phils., Northern Islands Co. Inc., Stradcom, RGB Ltd., Pldt Alpha Enterprise, Land Registration Authority, DKT International Inc., First Metro Securities, GSN+P Architecture Studio/Eco Solutions, Excellent Golfing Partners, Rimowa, Inada Family.

The event kicks off with the opening ceremonials today expected to be graced by club president Ben Abalos, Sen. JV Ejercito, who is the club vice president and also Bill Shaw committee chair, Pilipinas Shell president Ed Chua, Felix Ang of the local Mercedez Benz distributorship and other club officials and sponsor representatives.

Hole sponsors of the event using two different formats for each course are The Plaza, Turf Company, JCA Security, Most Law Firm, Avesco Marketing Corp., Wack Wack Express, Yakult Philippines, Ayala Land, GG&A, Hydration Nation, Ecpay, Clear Blue, Sumometrics Inc., Zesto, Fontana Hot Spring Leisure Parks and Casino, Peerless Product Manufacturing Corp.

Mode of play at the East is best-ball while it will be aggregate at the West with the teams posting the highest Stableford points for two rounds emerging as champions in the different handicap categories.
