BMC Air Filter Circuit Showdown continues legacy of late founder

MANILA, Philippines - Carlos Anton clocked the fastest time of the day in the fifth round of Circuit Showdown that saw over 100 entries vying for honors in various divisions at the Clark International Speedway.

Anton erased the old track record with a time of two minutes, 00.871 second in the event held in honor of its founder, the late Enzo Pastor, who was killed by an unidentified assailant recently.

The event, which fielded a 32-car single division grid, was supported by BMC Air Filters, GT Radial Tires, Mitasu Oil Japan, Staging Lanes, A1 Advertising, Aguila Auto Glass, Rota Wheels, Richmond Auto Parts, Hans, Exedy Performance Clutches, Skunk 2 Racing, Spy Eye Wear, Foil A Car Manila, Aero Med, Brembo Brakes, Sabelt, Philgerma, Driven, Refresh, Walter Sound and Stage Lighting and C! Magazine.

The top three finishers in the time trial portion of the day were Enrico Ayllon, Cres Manuel Liceralde  and Ron Valero (Bracket G), Jose Moreno Jr.,  Pio Alberto and Alan Santos (Bracket F), Ely Lagman , Moses Dumaguin and Inigo Anton (Bracket E),  Frankiln Ong , Ton Ton Ramos and  Jerico Tiu (Bracket D), Eggy Ong, Ian Macdonald and Patrick dela Rosa (Bracket C), Edward Pujol, Michael Bryan Co and Emerson Ocampo (Bracket B) and Miko Maristela, Ferdie Sia and Noel delos Reyes (Bracket A).

In the Club Class, with their GT86/BRZ’s, Pauland Dumlao took home the gold, followed by Paolo Rodriguez and Paolo Cuerpo.

The grid races tested the wit and mettle of drivers who had to deal with wet and dry tracks. 

The grid D winners were Pen Abueg, Roebucks Lozano and Dion Ortiz. Grid C fielded a 32-car grid, with no breakouts. Eduardo Suiza managed to make his way through the pack and maintain his lead over his closest rival Edwin Rodriguez and Francis Telan. In Grid B, Pujol came in first followed by Gerard Loy and Jun Cabrera. Grid A’s gold was awarded to Ferdie Sia, with the silver and bronze going to Miko Maristela and Borek Fallorin.

Leading the pack was Marc Thomann with his Toyota Wigo, followed by Macky Caniente with his Suzuki Cappuccino and Christopher Co with his Wigo.

The BMC Air Filter Circuit Showdown continues with Round 6 at the Batangas Racing Circuit on  Aug. 2.
