Ga Young Kim ready to defend Women’s World 10-ball crown

MANILA, Philippines – For five days, the Philippines is cast in the spotlight of the billiards world as it is set to host the Yalin Women’s World 10-Ball Championships, the most coveted championship in women’s billiards, from Oct. 31-Nov. 4 at the Resorts World Manila.

At stake is $21,000 for the champions and the right to be proclaimed as the best female billiard player in the world.

Ga Young Kim of South Korea will defend her crown against 44 other female cue artists, all champions in their own right. Expected to lead the charge are hometown favorites Rubilen Amit and Iris Ranola.

Jasmin Ouschan, billiards legend and Hall of Famer Allison “Duchess of Doom” Fisher, Kelly Fisher, first-time Manila visitor Vivian “Texas Tornado” Villareal are also favorites to win the prestigious event.

For Allison Fisher, who has won so many titles all over the world, winning the 10-ball championships is the only title remaining left on her an illustrious career.

Vivian Villareal, known for being quick and strong as a tornado on the cue table, remarked that “I am here to add fun and excitement to the tournament. Being a first timer in this country, I definitely would like to create an impact.

Many-time Manila visitor Jasmin Ouschan has really felt the warm welcome of the Philippines, even proclaiming it as her second home outside Austria. Players from China and Taiwan are also out to give a run for the money.
